Wine of the Month

Ortega Ezquerro Rioja Tempranillo 2015

The Ortega Ezquerro Rioja Tempranillo 2015 is fresh and satisfying with a deep red color, fruity aromas of cherries, crushed raspberries and a touch of gunpowder upfront - enough to get you excited! With near to no wood in its palette, this Tempranillo is fun to drink and enjoy with dishes like a paella with scampi and rabbit or with grilled sausage. This Rioja just opens up your appetite and is just asking for one more sip and another and another…

Ortega Ezquerro Crianza 2013

Here is another great red wine by the Ortega Ezquerro Winery from the Tudelilla village in the heart of the Rioja region.

"Crianza" refers to one year in the barrel plus one year in the bottle before release. This particular Crianza 2013 is intense in the dark red color and the aromas of red cherry, raspberry and spices. The classic Rioja made from 80% Tempranillo and 20% Garnacha grapes has spend 14-16 month in oak, 70% in new American oak and some 30% in used French oak barrels and the fruit aromas are very well framed by delicious vanilla and toffee notes and rounded on the palate by silky and sweet tannins, a structured and well balanced red wine.
